Four classes are offered in the Agricultural and Environmental Science and Technology (AEST) program:
Concepts of Agriscience (Grades 9 & 10)
This class is designed to introduce students to the sciences, technologies and applied practices of the progressive agriculture/agricience industry. (Counts as a Science credit towards graduation)
Science of Environmental Agriculture
(Grades 10, 11, 12)
(1 Credit) - This course is designed to introduce and develop skills in environmental areas related to the use and management of natural resources in the food and fiber systems. (Prerequisite: Concepts or Biology I)
Science of Agricultural Plants
(Grades 10, 11, 12)
(1 credit) - This course develops competencies related to the production of food, fiber, ornamental, and other purposes. (Prerequisite: Concepts or Biology I)
Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship
(Grades 11 & 12)
(1 credit) - This is a course in the role and characteristics of agricultural and related businesses in our economy. |

Mr. Ladner, Teacher
Mr. Ladner has been a member of the New Albany School of
Career and Technical Education for six years.
He attended Mississippi State University
where
he earned
both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Agriculture
Information Science and Education. He has a Minor in
Business Information Systems and is currently attending
the University of Mississippi pursuing a PhD in Educational
Leadership. Mr. Ladner is married to Mandy Ladner and
has two sons, Carter Ladner, born August 3, 2006 and
Rich Ladner, born February 13, 2008. |

Admission Requirements
9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students with an interest in agriscience or related careers are eligible to participate in this program.
Student Organization
The AEST program is also a part of the National FFA Organization. FFA is an intercurricular program that is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success
through agricultural education. All students enrolled in AEST are members of FFA and have the opportunity to participate in contests
and compete for scholarships. |
