Building Trades (I & II) is a program of instruction and hands-on experiences designed to help students develop the knowledge and skill needed to secure entry level employment in carpentry, brick masonry, plumbing, electrical wiring, and related areas in the construction industry or to continue their training in the field of construction.

In agreement with Northeast Mississippi Community College, students completing the two year Building Trades Program with a B average may receive college credit for:

Mr. Matkins, Instructor
Mr. Matkins has been teaching Building Trades for 23 years. He says he became a teacher mainly because of the recession of 1982. Another reason was because his wife was a teacher. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College, Mississippi State University, and the University of Mississippi. |

10th, 11th, and 12th grade students are eligible to participate in this program.
