Hands On Training

Students from Mr. Billy Matkins' Building Trades classes at the School of Career & Technical Education are getting hands-on training. They are constructing a much needed equipment building for the school's tractors, lawn mowers, golf carts, and other equipment for the New Albany School District. Some of these items are presently housed in the Field House. Removing them will give the football team more room to operate. The students learned how to plan, lay out and erect the building. Most of the students enjoy putting into practice what they have learned in the classroom and shop. They have used skills such as digging, measuring, cutting, hammering, drilling and safety. The building is scheduled to be completed by the end of the school year.
