Buffalo Park Trip
The New Albany FFA Chapter traveled to the Tupelo Buffalo Park on September 20th.
The field trip began with a bus tour of the park. During the tour, students learned
of the different species found in the park and the history of the buffalo. Students
discovered that millions of buffalo roamed the Great Plains in the 1800s. Then
the government trying to starve out the Native Americans killed hundreds of thousands
of buffalo reducing their number to around 500 total buffalo. Now, thanks to
wildlife refugees there are 540,000 buffalo in the U.S.
After the buffalo park, the chapter traveled to Ballard Park. Students ate
lunch and then conducted the first club meeting of the year. The main order
of business
was electing club officers. Those elected to serve for the 2007-2008 school
year are:

Vice-President—Daniel Tunnell

Frierson
Treasurer – Sam Cooper
